Floating offshore wind?

Most offshore wind turbines today are fixed to the seabed, so-called bottom-fixed, and in more shallow waters. The next generation of turbines are designed to float in the water allowing development further out to sea where winds are stronger, but the water depths make bottom-fixed designs uneconomic.

Energy context in France

France has a low-carbon electricity mix due to its large nuclear fleet, yet many reactors are reaching the end of their lifetime. The country has started an ambitious energy transition and offshore wind is one of the major solutions to rise to this challenge.
