Océole has been pre-qualified for the tender for a potential offshore wind project in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region (AO7). This is the third prequalification in a French tender for the alliance formed by developers Equinor and Q ENERGY France.
The offshore wind project off the island of Oléron on the country's Atlantic coast has an up to 2 GW potential.
The provisional timetable indicates award to be announced in 2024 and for the offshore wind farm to be commissioned in 2032 at the earliest.
The project team will continue to engage with the regional communities and businesses during the project’s life span as local engagement is critical to the sustainable project development of offshore wind.
« We are dedicated to developing offshore wind in France and are working on various regional opportunities. We want to support the development of a French offshore wind sector by sharing our experience and technical know-how » says Alexis Darquin, Director of Equinor Renewables France.
